White Out

There is something so clean and chic about wearing all white.. not to mention it is a huge trend for the summer. I went for a menswear inspired feel, but I kept it somewhat femme with nude strappy heels, pink lips, and a subtle leopard print clutch. This sleeveless blazer has been one of my favorite recent finds. It is the perfect completer piece for warm weather, but would also look amazing with leather leggings in cooler fall months. But for now I will just enjoy the beautiful balmy Florida evenings, and put the cold off for another day. Thanks for reading!

Chambray and Sequins: Trend Spin Link-Up

This weeks trend on the Trend Spin Link-Up is chambray! Chambray is such an important closet staple, but we have all seen it a million times paired with mint denim and a camel bag. While there is certainly nothing wrong with the baiscs, I took this chambray project as a challenge to change the way I wore my one of my favorite shirts. After all, fashion is about having fun ... the rules are...there are no rules.

I took this navy sequin dress into daytime by pairing it with the ever versatile chambray button down (layered with my trusty gingham). With navy being a neutral, I added the pop of red in my bag and pointed patent flats. Though this layered look is certainly creative, it remains classic thanks to the Americana colors and preppy pieces. Make sure to go over to Walking in Memphis in High Heels and The Fashion Canvas to see how other bloggers styled chambray! Thank you for reading, and have a great week.

Mix and Match

Mixing prints is the perfect way to add a little fun to the everyday shirt and shorts combo. The best way to combine two patterns is to use a common color palette  Here the black and white stripes are a great compliment to my neutral floral shorts. In addition to mixing and matching prints, another trend that I have been loving lately is high-waisted shorts paired with a cropped blouse. Not only is this a great outfit to beat the summer heat, the silhouette feels vintage and modern at the same time. I hope everyone had a great weekend and thank you for reading!

Denim on Denim

Wearing denim and chambray together is one of my favorite casual looks. My sleeveless chambray shirt is as comfortable as it is versatile and looks sweet buttoned up thanks to the peter pan collar. To add interest, I chose this intricate statement necklace. The arrangement of the stones and color in this piece is incredibly unique; it feels like wearing a print. The necklace also has a bungee cord instead of a chain, which adds a sporty vibe.

I hope everyone is having a great week... it is almost Friday!! As always thank you for reading.

Floral Frill: Trend Spin Link-Up

This week's trend on the Trend Spin Link-Up with Walking in Memphis in High Heels and The Fashion Canvas is floral! A floral skirt is a timeless and classic piece in any wardrobe. This floral skirt  however, is not the average thanks to its neoprene-like fabric and flirty frill at the hem. These days my first compulsion with a floral print is to mix in a stripe. To keep it simple (but not boring) I chose a solid white blouse with a sheer stripe panel at the top. The stripe "cut out" pattern is reflected in my metallic silver block heels. Thanks for stoping by and don't forget to check out other blogger's interpretations of the floral trend on the Link-Up! Have a great week!

Leopard Peplum

To put it simply, I love this leopard peplum top!  It has an unbelievable fit, great structure, and perfect muted print. Paired with my skirt it feels special and ladylike, but this top would also look at home styled with distressed jeans. In addition to my skirt, I chose to pair my new favorite piece with these fun two- tone heels. Though they are spiked, the delicate rounded toe and ankle straps adds a feminine touch to an otherwise edgy shoe. I hope everyone has a wonderful week, and thanks for reading.

Purple Pencil

Pencil skirts can seem only fitting for fussy work wear. However a bright purple pencil paired with electric orange, printed chambray, and denim says anything but office. In the spirit of mixing, I added sparkle against my top and lady-like metallic pumps with my casual cross-body  To take my fun one step further, I played on the polka-dot print in my shirt, and added a little splash of leopard in my cuff. With the weekend around the corner I love the idea of expanding my wardrobe with pieces from every area of my life! Thank you for reading.

Neon: Trend Spin Link-Up

This is my second week participating in the Trend Spin Link-Up with Walking in Memphis in High Heels and The Fashion Canvas! I love fabrics that have rich texture and color and with neon being this week's trend, I immediately gravitated toward this bright floral mini. When most people wear neon, they tend to just use it as an accent. I wanted to do something different and pair my neon skirt with a neon top. To break up the bright and add contrast to the floral pattern in the skirt, I chose this lovely little striped peplum jacket. I could wear navy and white stripes everyday! Be sure to check out other interpretations of the trend on the Link-up.  And as always, thank you so much for reading and have a great week!

In Her Shoes

Since I have been home for the summer, I often make a trip back into my Mother's closet for inspiration. Fortunately for me (and unfortunately for her) we wear the same size shoe. When I spotted this leopard calf-hair sandal sitting practically ignored for years, I immediately plucked them off the shelf. Though my Mom may see me as a pest who steals her clothes, shoes, clutches, and jewelry; I remind her that I am just breathing new life into her closet. I am showing her that items she had once discarded to the top of shelf five can become like new. I am obviously providing a valuable service. The "borrowed sandals" dress up my high waisted black jeans and this fun high-to-low hem blouse making for a perfect out to dinner and drinks ensemble.
Thank you as always for reading and I hope you are having a great weekend!
