NYFW: Ivory Fur & Overalls

Fuzzy jacket: Sheinside // Overalls: Topshop (similar here) // Shirt (underneath): J.Crew // Coat: J.Crew (old, similar here) // Shoes: J.Crew (love these here!!) // Lips: Stila 'Fiore'

Happy Wednesday! This is my last post from NYFW and I must say looking at this outfit, it definitely has a preppy vibe. Although the overalls and the embellished fur jacket are trendy pieces, there are elements of east coast classic style in the addition of my top coat, a crisp white blouse underneath, and a lady-like shoe. It's okay to be a little out there, even if you are a J.Crew groupie. In fact the mix of classic pieces with statement finds is in my opinion the key to building the perfect wardrobe. I hope you are having a great mid-week, and thanks as always for reading.

Snow Leopard

Coat: Zara (similar here...obsessed with this one here) // Vest: J.Crew // Dress: H&M ( similar here and here) // Sheer Tights: Ann Taylor // Socks: ASOS // Boots: Hunter // Bag: Kate Spade Saturday // Hat: Zara // Sunnies: Rayban

Happy Monday! Over the weekend, D.C. experienced another major snow fall. This may be coming from a Floridian who is not yet jaded by the winter, but I think snow is beautiful! Conquering this type of weather really comes down to having the right clothes: hunter boots to keep my feet dry, lots of layers to stay warm, and of course a hat and gloves. My winter winter wardrobe (as you can see) includes a lot of black, so I chose to add a pop of color with a red bag and a little print with this spotted parka. I am sure by next winter this amount of snow will not excite me in quite the same way, so I will enjoy it for now! I hope you have a great rest of your week, and thank you as always for reading.

NYFW Day 2: Blue // Black

Jeans: Topshop (similar here ... and 20% off with code YESPLEASE) // Fur vest: Sheinside // Turtleneck: Nordstrom // Booties: YSL // Coat: Mango // Backpack: Whistles // Hat: Zara (similar here) // Lipstick: Maybeline

Happy Thursday! I wore this outfit to the Jay Godfrey presentation at Lincoln Center. This was probably one of my favorite outfits of the trip because of its warmth, edginess, and playful mix of high and low pieces.  A piece on the lower end of price points that might surprise you is this faux fur vest. It is so soft and fluffy and it looks great alone or layered under or over your favorite outerwear. This extra layer came in handy in the extreme cold that swept NYC last weekend, what a way to kick off NYFW! I hope you are staying warm wherever you are and thank you for reading.

NYFW Day 1: Fur & Fringe

Coat: Vintage (similar faux version here) Shoes: 7 for All Mankind (love these fringe pair here) // Leather Jacket: Maje (similar here) // Pants: Ann Taylor (similar here) // Turtleneck: J.Crew // Bag: Gucci // Hat: Hat Attack NY

Hello from New York Fashion Week and oh my is it cold! I honestly can only remember one time that I was colder: on the top of Heavenly mountain in Lake Tahoe when there was a negative 25 degree wind chill. Regardless of the arctic conditions, I am so excited to be here. To ward off the extreme frigid air I am thankful to have this warm fur and a lot of leather. I love how these fringe platforms add boho edge to a glam over-the-top ensemble. Not to mention 70's style is back in full force for Spring: hence all of the platforms and flares on the scene as of late.

Back to the fur: my coat is not only fabulous but extremely special to me as it was my Grandmothers. She loved the City and fashion, and wearing her coat makes me feel like she is close. I hope everyone stays warm out there... I know NYC isn't the only place getting hit with a polar force wind. Stay tuned for more fashion week fun, and thank you for reading.

Vertical

Skirt: Cameo // Blouse: Cameo (on sale!) // Coat: Mango // Shoes: Schutz // Bag: Gucci // Lips: NARS

Happy Friday! It is no secret that I love stripes...time and time again I am attracted to their chic simplicity. Though I have a lot of striped pieces, the majority of the stripes in my closet are horizontal, so it was a refreshing change of pace to find this vertical option. I love how the top and skirt can be worn together (making the outfit look like a dress) or as separates. This is also a great option for spring work wear. Speaking of work, I hope you enjoy the coming weekend and thank you for reading!

Lilac // Olive

Pants: Zara (similar here) // Sweater: Rebecca Taylor // Shoes: Zara // Backpack: Whistles // Sunnies: Moorea Seal // Ring: David Yurman

Happy Monday! I love interesting color combinations like lilac and olive green. This dark olive  is usually reserved for military inspired items and is often paired with other neutrals. Lilac is soft and feminine and typically graces the façade of sundresses. When the two are paired (especially in contrasting textures like leather and knit) the result is something fresh and unexpected! And I can't think of a better time for fresh and new right in the middle of the gloomy winter months. I hope everyone is having a great start to their week, and thank you as always for reading.
